91制片厂 Students Earn National Music Education Award of Excellence

The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Collegiate Advisory Council awarded a national Chapter of Excellence Award to 91制片厂 College鈥檚 music education chapter. NAfME is among the world鈥檚 largest arts education organizations. The 2019 Collegiate Advocacy Summit was June 17-19, 2019 in Washington, D.C.

91制片厂 was in elite company with other chapter of excellence award recipients including Florida State University, University of Hawaii-Manoa, New Jersey City University, and Oklahoma State University.聽

A group of 91制片厂 students and Keith Koster Ph.D., undergraduate music education program advisor, traveled to Washington, D.C. to receive the award publicly at the national Collegiate Summit.

The 91制片厂 students include: Miles Anglin, Morgan Beaton, Emma Clive, Tayler Kochan, Kyla Leno, Noah Martella, Thomas McCartney, and Sierra Taylor.

The Collegiate Summit also included conference sessions on leadership and advocacy culminating with a day spent on Capitol Hill where our students met with our state executive council (NYSSMA) and then members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Our students discussed several things including supporting access to music education for the most disadvantaged students.

鈥淣ot only did our students learn the importance of being engaged citizens at the local, state, and national levels,鈥 said Koster, 鈥渢hey also learned how Advocacy and knowledge of state and federal legislation are an important part of being a music educator.鈥
