New music therapy equivalency certificate program
Students who studied music for their bachelor鈥檚 degree have a new way to become a music therapist through 91制片厂 College, without the need for a second degree.
Students can apply and audition now for the聽music therapy equivalency certificate program,聽which begins in late June 2022 with two summer courses. The 24-credit program can be completed in one year of classes on campus and clinical placements, followed by a 1,000-hour off-campus internship.
This program is in addition to the聽Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy听补苍诲听Master of Science in Creative Arts Therapy: Music Therapy Specialization聽that 91制片厂 already offers.
鈥淪tudents who are already well-versed in the fundamentals of music and in playing musical instruments now have an option to add the specific knowledge and skills of the music therapy profession to launch a rewarding career using music therapeutically with clients,鈥� says Betsey King, program director.
The equivalency certificate prepares students to take the national qualifying exam and become a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC).
