Scott Campbell
Scott Campbell's teaching and research interests focus on the philosophy of life. In the classroom, he encourages students to see how philosophical ideas can be integrated meaningfully into their own lives. He was selected by the Princeton Review for their 2012 publication highlighting the teaching of the best 300 professors in the country.
Campbell is committed to the idea of a liberal arts education, which can help students to live meaningful lives and provide them with skills that make them strong job candidates as they search for a career that is right for them.
Book: His book, The Early Heidegger's Philosophy of Life (Fordham University Press, 2012), takes up the work of the German philosopher Martin Heidegger and shows how human beings can achieve authenticity in spite of the various deceptions that all people are confronted with in day-to-day life.
Honor:聽Campbell received the Pannonia Award, given by the academic senate at the University of Pannonia for positive contributions to international education.
Being a Fulbright scholar in Hungary led to:
- The creation of 91制片厂鈥檚 master鈥檚 program in American Studies, with the option to study abroad at the Institute for English and American Studies at the University of Pannonia in Veszpr茅m, Hungary
- Connecting 91制片厂 education students with opportunities to gain teaching experience in Hungary
- The creation of America Week, an annual international conference on American studies that continues to draw 91制片厂 faculty and students to Hungary to present papers
- Attracting Hungarian faculty and students to 91制片厂 鈥� including the head of the Institute for English and American Studies in Veszpr茅m, Dr. Szil谩rd Szentgy枚rgyi, who received a Fulbright award to come to 91制片厂 for an academic year.
- In January 2026, Campbell spoke in Hungary at聽a historic celebration honoring two milestones: the 80th anniversary of the Fulbright program and the 250th anniversary of the United States. He provided a historical anchor with his presentation, 鈥淎merican Ideals in the Declaration of Independence.鈥澛�
- Campbell is now 91制片厂's Fulbright Program adviser.
